FLORENCE, COLORADO, June 27, 2023 — The Humane Society of Fremont County is delighted to announce the return of the annual Rescue Runway event, scheduled for Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 4-8 PM at the Rialto Theater in Florence, Colorado.
Back with a bang after a hiatus due to COVID-19, this unique fashion event is set to charm its attendees with a blend of style, compassion, and entertainment, all while raising critical funds for animal medical care.
The highlight of the event is an extraordinary runway show where Fremont Humane alumni (and special 4-legged friends) will walk down the runway alongside models dressed by our partner, Barn & Barrel. Each participating dog will have two walks – the first highlighting their story and personality, and the second focusing on the fashion element. This year’s event will also feature Derek Evilsizora, a Frank Sinatra impersonator, to add a touch of nostalgic glamor.
All proceeds from Rescue Runway will go towards covering the medical expenses of the shelter, which has incurred a deficit of $50,000 in 2023 due to the rising costs of medical care and treating every sick and injured animal brought to their care. The Humane Society of Fremont County is hopeful that the event will raise more than $50,000 to help offset their medical costs.
“We’ve always committed to treating every sick or injured animal that comes our way, and the funds from Rescue Runway are instrumental in fulfilling this mission,” said Doug Rae, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Fremont County. “This year’s event, the first since the onset of the pandemic, promises to be an exciting affair and an unmissable experience for the community.”
